I Am OK!

Funny, I remember saying in a recent post that I thought I was finished with the falling down stage, apparently not as I realized yesterday.

The last thing I remember was thinking to myself these ruts look kinda big maybe I should slow down. Well, I guess I slowed down too, just not in the manner that I planned. I would have rather used my brakes instead of my face, shoulder, arm and hip. I really feel lucky though, could have been much worse. I came out of it with a minor wrist fracture, a nice concussion and some road rash that looks like I am growing James Hetfield side burns.

From what I hear it was quite a project getting me from the trail to the ER, thanks to all who helped out that day, you were awesome! I appreciate it and Jeff does too! We have some really awesome friends! Thank you!

Face rash. Yowza. Glad the injuries weren't worse.

May the recovery be a speedy one.

Kristy You are an amazing person. Just don't stop riding whatever you do. I can't wait to see you back on the bike!

I hope you heel quickly. Take it easy. This is a sign that you need a bike with more suspension travel to easily navigate the rough stuff.

It doesn't look OK. Does it itch yet? How do you keep from scratching it?

Tim, Barbara, Rigtenzin and Snakebite, and everyone else calling and sending e-mails, Thanks very much for the kind words and warm wishes! I am feeling better and better each day. I am so surprised that I am still in pain, I guess I was thinking that I would be back to my normal activities all ready but unfortunately not. I just keep resting and taking it easy, man I really knocked myself silly. I am hoping just a couple more days is all it will take.

Was it suspension? Funny thing is that I already have 5 inches of travel on my stumpjumper. This bike also has Juicy 5 brakes which I am still getting used to
(my last bike you had to really crank um in to get it to respond). Without being able to re-play that last 10 seconds of the accident....my guess is I hit the brakes too hard. It's funny as I write this and think about the accident I remember feeling like I was already going out of control, like I hit a bump going too fast and couldn't recover. Who knows? I am sure I will have plenty of time to mull it over in my mind and try and figure out some sort of reasonable explanation that I can live with.

About the itchy face. Just tonight at dinner I just realized my face really itches.... That is really going to drive me nuts. I hope I can leave it alone so that it can heal nicely. It's not a very cool place for scars.
