Here is some footage from today's ride on a trail we call "The Deer Run". In the valley below, you can see the city where we all work. We're pretty lucky to have such cool trails just a few miles from work!
Here's a still shot of the same trail. This is what the area looks like 2 years after the big fire. Not too bad...
This short climb is never easy. You need a good line, good traction, proper weight distribution, and a strong heart to get up it.

I love the video. The place you get to ride make me jealous. I have some nice local places to ride, but nothing like what I see in your photos.
Well thank you! It's kind of a unique situation. We're able to ride from work to fun trails in just a couple miles. Carson City is probably one of the smallest state capitals in the nation, providing good state jobs and close riding in the Sierras. There is a decent bike route to get from the north end of the city to the south end, but I wouldn't call it a bike friendly city overall. There are a lot of big trucks/SUV's and skinny roads. Once you get out of town, however, it's a different story. There are many deserted back roads.
For weekend riding, we are just a half hour drive from Lake Tahoe. Trails like the Tahoe Rim Trail, Mr. Toads Wild Ride, and the Flume Trail. There are some fun trails on the east side of the valleys too...more of a high desert climate. The dirt bikers (motorcycles) have made a whole network of fun single track.
I enjoy seeing trails from all over the country. It seems everyone's local trails have something to offer that no one else's do!
